The brotherhood of martial arts Perisai Diri (shield for ourselves), better known as Silat Perisai Diri, was established in Sura- baya, Indonesia on July 2nd, 1955. The founder is RMS Dirdjoatmodjo, who is better known as Pak Dirdjo.
The organization committee is centralized in Surabaya and the board members exist in all over Indonesia. Through out Indonesia, Silat Perisai Diri exists in big cities such as Bali, Lombok, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Bandung, and almost all towns in Java.

So far, Perisai Diri has been spread out overseas. It exists in Asia, Australia, Europe and America. Countries such as Australia, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, United State, Switzerland and Japan are registered as countries where Perisai Diri training exists.
In Australia, Silat Perisai Diri grows around South East. The central organization is located in Brisbane with more than 6 classes opened. Other cities such as Goldcoast , Sydney, Perth, Cairns and Toowoomba has also had training classes for Silat Perisai Diri.
Since Perisai Diri is one of Indonesian martial arts, it is automatically be part of World united of Silat Organization, which is known as Persilat. Our delegation in London, Australia and Japan have become Persilat committee since it was established.
In the end, the organization is trying to build a brotherhood between its members all over the world and introducing a unique Indonesian martial arts: Silat Perisai Diri. However, it is not only introducing, but also offering to learn effective martial arts without having an injury.
